We share stories from past
and the present.

Lhotshampa Diaries is a labor of love created by two members of the Lhotshampa community who personally experienced displacement, life in refugee camps, and resettlement in new countries. Having lived through the loss of home and the struggle to rebuild their lives, they understand the power of stories to preserve memory, honor resilience, and connect generations. The project’s goal is to document personal narratives—from elders who remember Bhutan to those born in new lands such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Denmark—and to ensure these experiences are never forgotten. Through these stories, Lhotshampa Diaries seeks to celebrate the strength, courage, and hope of the Lhotshampa community, preserving a legacy that can inspire, educate, and resonate for generations to come.
